Having trained at some of the top hospitals on the West Coast (United States), including UCLA, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and Loma Linda. As a Bermudian, she is elated to introduce the Neuropsychology specialty to the island of Bermuda in 2022 and to provide comprehensive and targeted assessments; ultimately reducing the need for locals to travel abroad to receive these services. In addition to specialized training in brain and behavior relationships, Dr. Sam also has extensive experience and training in a number of therapeutic interventions and approaches.

Dr. Samantha Scott-O’Bannon was born in Bermuda and graduated head-girl from Bermuda Institute. She completed her post-secondary education at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama before accepting a position to conduct psychological and neurological research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In pursuit of her doctorate, Dr. Sam helped to open and establish Sports Concussion Institute (Atlanta location) where she was responsible for conducting baseline assessments for student and professional athletes, as well as contributing to the research used to form the Return to Play protocols for the NFL. She later attended Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, before receiving both her Masters and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California where she specialized in Neuropsychology.

From a young age, Dr. Sam had a passion for medical services on the island of Bermuda and was determined to contribute to the quality of health care available to her country. She is currently working in Los Angeles, California as a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist with a clinical focus on pediatric and adult populations. Specifically, Dr. O’Bannon specializes in brain and behavior relationships, and helps families and individuals determine the impact of brain injury or neurological and/or neurodevelopmental strengths and weaknesses on their daily life (e.g., school, work, relationships).
